To increase creative flexibility, the looks are decoupled from any LOG to 709 conversion. If your footage is LOG, all you need to do is map your footage to 709 or sRGB before the CineGrain look layer/node.

Having the .drx Full Node Tree or LUT attached to the PowerGrade allows you to audition looks one after another with just a double click or a center click on a timeline grade. This is a huge improvement to right clicking a node and scrolling through a folder structure to the one you’d like. Visual navigation allows for better creative choices.

Node Trees organized so you can look under the hood and easily make adjustments:

The Node Trees have Primaries, Contrast, and Pivot on Node 1 -- Custom Curve Grades, Low & High Soft on a Parallel Node 3 -- and any sharpening or defocus on the last Serial Node. The Apollo color charts have a disabled node that can simply be turned on to map the chart from negative to print density!

The smart people at NASA shot their 70mm Color Charts :) We've included both the original untreated scans of the negative and mappings to five different Print Densities based on their charts! This means that for every look their is also the option to make it a full density print. Simply add the LUTs/NodeTress labeled PRINT. The 5 PRINT looks are designed to be used in combination after another Apollo look.

🔧 Node Structure (Super Useful!)

Here’s what you’ll find under the hood of a typical CineGrain Apollo Node Tree:

You can toggle this chart node on to accurately map negative scans to print density, or use it as a reference for dialing in your own matching workflow.

🌈 LOG to Rec709 or sRGB Conversion

To keep things flexible:

The looks are not baked into a LOG–709 transform.
That means you’ll need to manually convert your LOG footage before applying the Apollo LUTs or grades.
Add a Color Space Transform Node at the start of your node tree or use a LUT like Arri LOG-C to Rec709, depending on your camera.

🖨️ PRINT DENSITY VERSIONS

Once you've applied an Apollo look, you can stack on one of the PRINT LUTs/Node Trees:

These emulate 5 different NASA print densities.
Apply after your base look for a final filmic pass.
Adds a beautiful, authentic finish that simulates how the image would look printed from negative to paper using NASA’s internal calibration.

Mood Creation:
- Use the Apollo grades to quickly create cold, historic, scientific moods or high-contrast documentary style.
Layering Looks:
- Build your grade using Resolve’s node graph:
  - Base correction → Look (Apollo PowerGrade) → Print emulation LUT → Grain/Defocus
Custom Tweaks:
- Because the node trees are cleanly organized, you can easily dive in and adjust curves, contrast, saturation, or sharpness to suit your footage and tone.
